Viña del Mar is well known for its beaches, its sea-food and for the variety of shows during the year and with the historical city port of Valparaiso, which has been declared Heritage of the Earth, they constitute an urban center that invites you to discover and enjoy.
Spanish is the official language of Chile, however most inhabitants speak some English. English, Spanish and Portuguese will the official languages of the conference.
Viña del Mar has a Mediterranean climate and the weather is mild without extreme differences between winter and summer. During the warm seasons temperatures range between 11ºC and 30ºC. Rainfall is concentrated during the autumn and winter months and temperatures will vary between 2ºC and 15ºC.
The sociology of sport, while grounded in sociology, has always been much more of a social science of sport. In addition to sociology, work in the field encompasses history, political science, human geography, anthropology, social psychology and economics. Also, the new off-shoots of sociology such as, cultural studies, media studies, and gender studies, are well represented in the field.
