All overseas visitors are required to have a valid passport for the stay in Chile, and with the exception of delegates from visa-free countries, attendees are required to have the appropriate visa.
Visas may also be obtained before departure from offices of the Chilean Embassy or Consulate in the attendee´s home country.
Citizens from South America, the European Union, the USA, Canada and Australia do not need tourist visas. However, some countries must pay a tax in cash (reciprocity tax) upon arriving at the airport in Chile.

In Chile it is necessary to carry an identification document at all times. Always carry your passport, a card from the hotel you are staying at, a contact telephone in your own country, your personal medical indications related to special health situations, i.e. allergies, any particular medicines and your blood group.
